1101 Power Bleeder Adapter Attachment Tips

The 1101 adapter which is inlcuded in many kits and the 0101 Universal Power Bleeder Kit is a useful adapter in that it can attach to a large number of vehicles. The downside is that it can be challenging to attach if you don't know a few useful tips. Here they are:

  1. Keep Gaskets Dry. The gaskets on the Motive Products adapters seal better when dry. If you're having difficulty obtaining a seal, make sure the gasket is dry. Wipe it down with a clean rag or paper towel. Then clean it with alcohol. Keep the alcohol off of your skin and definitely don't drink it.
  2. Do a dry run. Attach the adapter before putting brake fluid in the Power Bleeder's tank. Pump it up to pressure and listen for leaks. If you have a leak, reset the adapter. If you have a good seal, then slowly open the Power Bleeder cap, bleed off the air, add some brake fluid, pump the unit to pressure and proceed with your bleeding.
  3. Get the attachment pressure right. If you over tighten the adapter you will bow it which will result in a leak. If you under tighten it you will get a leak. If you're struggling to get a good seal, try some different attachment pressures.
